SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 27, 2015) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) Office of Alumni and Family Relations hosted the annual alumni soccer weekend this past Saturday.
The festivities began with a women's scrimmage between the Saints and alumni at noon. The alumni got on the board first after a goal from inaugural team member Bianca Ramirez. Current Saint Yolanda Vasquez kicked two balls into the goal, and freshman Dawson Brinkley (FR/San Antonio, Texas) added the final goal to give the Saints the 4-2 win. The men took the field at 2 p.m., and the Saints defeated the alumni team 3-0. Scoring goals were Norberto Lira (FR/Monterrey, NL, Mexico), Jesus Cortes (SR/El Paso, Texas) and Jose Escareno (SR/Mission, Texas).
Director of Alumni and Family Relations Debora Guzman and Assistant Director Steven Zumarán hosted nearly 60 alumni from classes 2007 through 2017 at a mixer held at OLLU's Providence Hall, West Social Room. Attendees enjoyed catching up with Head Men's Coach Shane Hurley and Head Women's Coach Arthur Salazar – both of whom have been with the university's soccer program since its inception in 2007.
