SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 9, 2021) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) baseball team split a two-game series against Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OKWU) on Tuesday. The Saints fell in the first game 9-4 and won their first game of the season 1-0 to close the series. OLLU is 1-5 on the season while the Eagles move to 4-1. Jose Diaz (SR/Pinar del Rio, Cuba) surpassed 200 hits as a Saint in the first game.
Game one
The Saints started strong by leading 4-1 after two innings. Jose Diaz singled to drive in Noah Rodriguez (SO/Victoria, Texas) in the bottom of the first inning. Diaz also drove in a pair of runs in the second inning. The Eagles would go on to score nine runs and ended the Saints'scoring spree after the second inning. Jose Ramirez III (JR/Donna, Texas), Javier De Alejandro (FR/San Antonio, Texas), Joey Baker (SR/Victoria, Texas), Devin Benavides (FR/Laredo, Texas), Layne Klostermann (SO/Raymondville, Texas) and Hamilkar Medina (JR/Carolina, Puerto Rico) all made appearances on the mound for the Saints. Diaz went 3-for-4 at the plate and tallied three RBIs.
