AUSTIN, TEXAS (Jan. 10, 2018) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's basketball team suffered a tough loss at the buzzer to Huston-Tillotson University (HTU) in a Red River Athletic Conference matchup. The Saints' 84-85 loss drops their record to 6-1 in conference and 11-6 overall, while the Rams improve to 4-3 in conference and 4-7 overall.
Head Coach Ryan Wall commented, "We didn't play very good defense, and we didn't come out ready to play. Our intensity was down, we didn't cover the right ground, and we didn't help each other out defensively. Our offense was decent, but we also need to control on defense. They shot it well, but again, we let them shoot wide-open shots. Christian Wilson (JR/Baton Rouge, La.) is very talented offensively; I've just got to get him to buy in defensively. Once he does that, he'll make us a better team. Courtney Julien (JR/Gonzalez, La.) has been consistent all year; he can score from all over. Brandell Collins (SR/San Angelo, Texas) has come a long way since his first year here. He's developed and matured, and he's made a lot more better decisions. He helps us defensively and he penetrates to the rim and finishes it. Against Paul Quinn this weekend, we have to get better defensively."
This marks the first loss by the Saints against HTU. Their overall record is 16-1.
