TATUM, TEXAS (April 22, 2017) – The Our Lady of the Lake University men's track and field team took second place in the 2017 Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship over the weekend. This is the Saints' highest finish in three years of competing in track and field. In 2015, the Saints came in fifth place, and last year, they finished in third place.
Head Coach Stephen Sherman commented, "I am really not the type to gloat a whole lot and definitely have a tendency to not take the time to truly appreciate the things that our teams, whether it be cross country or track, have accomplished. That said, I am very proud of where our program is right now. The results from this weekend are fairly remarkable especially given that a mere three years ago outside of the distance events we did not matter in RRAC track and field or track and field in general for that matter. We definitely matter now, and it is a true testament to the hard work of our athletes, Coach Terry Smith, and myself."
