OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 30, 2021) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team lost to Oklahoma City University (OCU) 78-71 on Friday to open the 2021-2022 season. The Stars received votes in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Preseason Poll.
Head Coach Jillian Flores commented, "Overall, I am extremely proud of the effort and focus the ladies showed in our season opener. They bought into our game plan and executed it well.
"It was a battle the entire game with multiple lead changes. We really set the pace the entire game, and they had a hard time keeping up with our tempo.
"We won the first and last quarter, but shooting woes in the third quarter ended up getting the best of us.
"They were not able to handle our defensive pressure as we forced 28 turnovers and took 75 total shots in the game to their 51. We had some bad breaks offensively where the ball just wouldn't go in.
"I'm excited to see this group continue to come together. They showed some toughness tonight on the road, and we will have to bounce back quickly for another challenge tonight at USAO."
