KANSAS CITY, MO. (July 15, 2019) – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the teams that have earned the distinction for Scholar-Teams for the 2018-2019 academic year.
Eight teams from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) qualified for this honor - the same amount as last year, which was a record.
OLLU's NAIA Scholar Teams are Women's Cross-Country, Soccer, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track and Volleyball; Men's Baseball, Golf, Tennis. (Note: Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Teams are counted separately.)
Last season, Women's Cross-Country, Soccer, Softball, Volleyball, Track and Field, and Men's Baseball, Soccer and Tennis earned Scholar-Team recognition. In 2017, the Men's Golf and Tennis teams, and the Women's Soccer, Softball and Volleyball Teams earned this honor. In 2016, the Scholar Teams were Women's Soccer, Softball and Volleyball, and Men's Golf, and in 2015, Women's Soccer, Cross-Country, Softball and Track and Field, and Men's Golf were recipients.
For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0-grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.
